CALL FOR DANCERS
Fashion designer Jason Lingard is looking for contemporary dancers to perform in an intimate performance showcasing his Spring Summer 2017 collection. We are looking for approximately nine dancers (male or female) to perform an interpretive piece set to a soundscape designed by sound artist Emi Pogoni.
The piece will be dark, slow and atmospheric and will require movement to suit. Dancers will be given the sound piece a week or so prior to show day. The presentation will be made up of short solos while sharing the runway with other dancers (usually three dancers on the runway at a time), with quick costume changes in between pieces. The show will run seamlessly.
The event is not ticketed and is a private event for fashion buyers, media, and guests who are in town for NZ Fashion Week. The venue can hold up to 500 people, but we expect more around the 300 mark and will be removing some seats.
Date: Thursday 31th August 2017.
Time: Morning or Midday. Keep all morning free for a rehearsal. Show should run no later than 1.30pm
Venue: Viaduct Event Centre, Auckland.
Sound Designer: Emi Pogoni: www.emipogoni.com
Clothing: Jason Lingard: www.jasonlingard.com
Rehearsals: We are likely to have two off-site rehearsals leading up to the show. Then one run-through the morning
of the show on-site.
Compensation: $80 plus up to $300 clothing credit. We understand the fee
is low, but we are a young emerging brand and our budget is small as the event is
not ticketed. We appreciate your support and hope you enjoy artistic collaborations
such as this. Full credit will be given in the programme, including a bio.
We will also make some invites available for your friends and family.
Please only audition if you can commit to the above.
Auditions will be held over three nights:
7pm Mon 8 August
7pm Tue 9 August
7.45pm Sun 13 August
Auditions are at the designers studio, an old warehouse at 10 Anzac Ave, Auckland Central. Please note floors are concrete, but we don't expect much jumping or ground work.
Please choose one of these 2min sound pieces prior to the audition:
We also ask that dancers are close to fashion sample size (Size 8 or 10 for females. Small or Medium for males.)
